Friends Receives Global Goals Award
Friends is the recipient of a Global Goals Award from the United Nations Association-Greater Chicago Chapter (UNA-Chicago) which recognizes local individuals or organizations dedicated to upholding the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Friends was recognized for our "extraordainary leadership and efforts in support of Global Goal #14 Life Below Water." The Sustainable Development Goals were adopted by world leaders in September 2015. Held virtually this year, The 2020 Global Goals Awards Ceremony (held October 22) also celebrated UN Day in Chicago, marking the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and its founding Charter on October 24, 1945.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres was on hand via video to share his congratulations to all the UN Day award winners which in Chicago also included Friends' partners at the Illinois Environmental Council and Urban Rivers for the Wild Mile and a host of other worthy organizations upholding the values of sustainability, world peace, and collaboration.
