The first survey of mussels conducted since Friends of the Chicago River and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) reconnected southwest suburban Mill Creek to the Cal-Sag Channel last year has produced positive results: two species of mussels were found.

The revitalization of the Chicago River System was celebrated at the grand re-opening of the Bridgehouse Museum August 21. Many dignitaries gathered for the re-opening ceremony of the unique museum dedicated to the Chicago River system. A major refresh of the museum's exhibits was unveiled.
