Good Morning America features the Chicago River
The Chicago River was in the spotlight of Good Morning America this week. ABC News’ Rebecca Jarvis profiled the revival of river as emblematic of how cities across the US are reviving riverfronts for economic and community benefits.
“The river shout out from Good Morning America this morning is a testament to our decades long effort to improve and protect the river and the leadership role that Friends of the Chicago River played in establishing Chicago’s riverfront economy,” said Margaret Frisbie, Friends’ executive director. “Our visionary founders saw past the river’s legacy of pollution and abuse, imagining a future where waterfront restaurants, river walks, and nature would thrive. As a result the river has reemerged as a healthy blue-green corridor of connected natural open space that contributes to the health and welfare of Chicago and beyond.”
