New Team Member Joins our Chicago River Schools Network
Friends welcomes Erin Dyke as our School Program Facilitator of where she supports recruitment and programming our Chicago River Schools Network (CRSN). Through workshops, presentations, and field trips, the CRSN empowers local teachers with the knowledge and resources to teach Chicago-Calumet River ecology.
Working closely with Friend’s Education Manager Mark Hauser, Erin will especially work to deepen the CRSN’s outreach in the Calumet region. Erin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College and has recently worked as a STEM coach at the Schuler Scholar Program & Lindblom Math and Science Academy in Chicago. A grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency supports the School Program Facilitator position.
With the 2023-24 school year underway, the CRSN is off to a swift start. Less than a month into the school year the CRSN completed or scheduled 50% more programs than all of the last school year. Since 1996, the CRSN has helped thousands of teachers and more than 475,000 students explore the Chicago River.
