Take Action Today to Protect Wetlands

U.S. EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently announced plans to consider whether to continue protect wetlands and streams from pollution that are essential to ensuring a healthy environment. The Clean Water Act has protected these waters for more than 50 years, but now under the new Administration, EPA wants to reconsider these longstanding clean water protections. EPA has opened a comment period that closes on April 23. Take action now to tell the EPA that our waterways deserve protection.

In addition, Illinois must take action at the state level to safeguard these natural resources, which are essential for clean water and resilient ecosystems. Friends of the Chicago River, along with environmental partners, is supporting legislation to protect Illinois' wetlands from further harm. How you can help: Illinois lawmakers are considering a bill that will codify wetlands protections in state law. Use this Action Alert to contact your legislators and urge them to vote ‘Yes’ and cosponsor SB2401, which will protect Illinois wetlands left vulnerable by the U.S. Supreme Court.
